Details

Set within a working vineyard, this compact weekend house required privacy from vineyard workers and distinct entertainment spaces within a small footprint, achieved through formal hedging and structured plantings that echo Napa Valley's aesthetic. The material palette is deliberately restrained—boxwood, lavender, ornamental grasses—while drought-tolerant perennials and native grasses soften the edges, and an abandoned orchard restored with meadow grasses creates a transition between cultivation and wildness. The structured hedges provide nesting sites, the lavender supports pollinators, and the orchard offers food for wildlife—a garden that looks exactly as a Napa Valley estate should while functioning as a vital piece of the larger ecosystem.
