We transformed a sparse gravel courtyard into a lush tropical garden that serves as the living heart of this Pacific Heights home. A dramatic king palm, Mediterranean fan palms, and rare staghorn ferns sourced from Los Angeles provide architectural structure, while every shade of green, from silvery-gray succulents to deep emerald ferns, creates what appears monochromatic until you realize it contains dozens of distinct hues. As neighboring properties developed, we adapted with strategic palm placements that screen without enclosing, exemplifying our approach to garden stewardship, responding to changing conditions while maintaining design integrity.
